This campaign is by Miu Miu, one of my favourite designer brand advertisements. This particular advertisement was for the Spring/Summer 2014 campaign which featured Elizabeth Olsen (picture above) and others like Elle Fanning and Bella Heathcote. The campaign was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The whole campaign features a lot of pastel colours as this was the trend in Summer 2014. The brand Miu Miu was established in 1993 by Miuccia Prada. It is an Italian high fashion women's clothing and accessory brand and a subsidiary of Prada.
I chose to analyse this particular advert because, apart from being a fan of Miu Miu's advertising crusades, I felt like these images were trying to get a strong response from the audience. Miu Miu's shoots are always a bit out there and always exceedingly colourful, however this advert doesn't match the brand's normal advertising descriptions. The advert features an upcoming model, Elizabeth Olsen, so many people may not know who she is and therefore wouldn't be drawn to the advert for celebrity enforcement reasons. The colours are pastels and not bright ones, so doesn't immediately attract your eye, and overall the image is quite bland. However, it's extremely attracting in other ways. The young model may attract a different, younger audience to what Miu Miu usually aim for, even though a younger audience wouldn't be able to afford the brand. The colour's appeal to a wider audience also, because not everyone likes to wear bright colours all of the time, so the duller tones may make the intended audience want to have that look.
The main focus in the image is the bag so it seems that may be the product they are trying to sell. The trend of this season was pastels and this advert succeeds to keep up with the trends, which is attracting. I personally like the sadness in the models face, and the position she is in. According to an online source, all of the models in the campaign posed in their own unique ways to present their product.
